DAY 2
Our first day out and we can’t wait to get you riding some of those Tuscan hills! Today we will cycle around Lago di Montedoglio drinking in the iconic scenery, stopping off in the beautiful 11th century town of Sansepolcro for coffee and cake and then homeward bound for lunch in Anghiari. Followed by a few hours of free time around the pool before a home cooked dinner at our beautiful Tuscan villa.
DAY 3
Our big day out today so we will be setting off early to get to the beautiful Lago Trasimeno. This is where Tuscany spills over into Umbria. Italy's fourth-largest lake is a prime spot for us to get off the well-trodden trail for a few hours. Around this beautiful lake, we will be cycling through silver-green olive groves, vines and ancient woods of oak and cypress. Sunflower fields frame the castle-topped medieval towns of Castiglione del Lago and Passignano, where we will be stopping off for refreshments along the way and then lunch high on the hillside in a fabulous restaurant overlooking the lake. Back home to the villa for another delicious home cooked dinner.
DAY 4
Another early start for our special excursion day to watch a stage of the Giro d'Italia. Lunch in a hand picked trattoria. Free time in the afternoon at the villa. For those who want to cycle, maps will be provided for unaccompanied rides. Dinner in town at one of the lovely local restaurants.
DAY 5
For our last cycling day we have a great little ride for you, heading off through Anghiari over the Carmine ridge climbing up to and through the beautiful nature reserve of Monte Rognosi and on to the gorgeous little village of Ponte Alla Piera. Get back to Anghari for a pizza lunch and then homeward bound for a free afternoon around the pool or an unsupervised local ride (maps will be provided). A final slap up dinner at our beautiful retreat with your intrepid cycle buddies.
